Daventry Town is the next port of call for the Stutes as we look to put a damp night in St Neots behind us and string together another winning run.  It is likely to be another difficult one as Daventry currently occupy fifth place in the table, level on points with St Neots, but with only one win in their last six league matches, this could be a good time to be playing them.

The Northants side no longer have star strikers Leon Lobjoit and Nabil Shariff who were both among the league’s top scorers last season, but our past record against The Town is far from impressive.  We lost both fixtures by the same score-line last season (5-0) with the first of these being the day after Chris Nunn’s appointment as manager.  We currently trail them in the table by nine points but have played two games fewer.

Matty Allan made a welcome return from injury last Saturday and may well be chosen to lead the attack this time out, subject to the extent of the injury that Connor Barnes picked up at St Neots on Tuesday night.  We will, however, be without captain Max York who was red carded in the dying seconds of that same game.  The level of support for Chris Nunn’s developing side at St Neots was nothing short of outstanding and the players and management alike were quick to show their appreciation at the end of the game.  The same again at Daventry would give the side a huge boost as they look to add to their points tally for the season.

Daventry play at the Master Abrasives Stadium in Browns Road which has a very impressive clubhouse and ample car parking.  Admission is Adults £10, 18-21 and over 60s £5, U18s £1, Armed Services, NHS, Police and Fire Service employees free.  A printed programme will be available for £2.00.  The postcode for your SatNav is NN11 4NS.

After Saturday’s game, we have another two away matches starting at Yaxley on Tuesday and Great Yarmouth next Saturday before we host Eynesbury Rovers on Tuesday 22nd October.  Tickets for the bus to Great Yarmouth are still available at £10 for the return journey.  Email paul.smart@histonfc.co.uk for details.
