Two goals from Luke Crisp and a neat Matty Allan strike gave us a 3-1 win at Easington Sports last Saturday, and Chris Nunn’s side will be looking for a repeat performance against the same opposition at Bridge Road this coming Saturday with a 3.00pm kick-off.  The Sports make the 168-mile round trip to CB24 for a rearranged fixture after our scheduled game against Northampton ON Chenecks had to be moved due to cup commitments.  “It’s not ideal that we have to play the same opposition a week later” said Nunny after the game last Saturday, “but that is football, and we just have to go with it.”

The manager was short of some key players last week with Joe Sutton serving a one-game suspension and Tom Binder being unavailable.  It meant an unfamiliar look to the Histon mid-field, but both Tom and Joe are available for selection again on Saturday.  Matty Allan’s return to full fitness will also delight the manager, particularly after his performance in leading the line at Easington.  In his programme column for Saturday’s game, Nunny says, “Matt’s work rate on Saturday was phenomenal and he put in the perfect Number Nine performance.”

Another player likely to be returning to the side after injury is defender Ellis Leka.  Pharrell Anderson may also have sufficiently recovered from his knee injury to play a part in the game.  But Saturday will be the last time for a while that we see Jake Kerins, who is flying south for the winter to enjoy the warmer climate.

Both ourselves and Easington are currently in a mid-table position, locked together on 20 points from 15 games, but the added incentive for the Stutes will be to preserve our record of being unbeaten at Bridge Road in the league since the end of March.  We are now the only side in the UCL Premier Division South which has yet to lose a league match at home this season.

Admission to the game is £10 for adults, £6.00 for concessions (including students, retired and serving Armed Forces), £2.00 for Under 18 and accompanied Under 11s go free.  The club bar will be open from 1.30 and the food kiosk will be serving hot food and drinks throughout the afternoon.

Don’t forget, kick-off is at 3.00pm but reverts back to 2.00pm for our next home match against league leaders Aylestone Park on 30th November.
