High-flying Aylestone Park are the visitors to Bridge Road on Saturday for what will arguably be our stiffest test on home soil this season.  The side from Leicester are currently equal on points with St Neots Town at the top of the UCL Premier South table and widely regarded as one of the strongest sides in the league.  Having reached the play-offs last season, Aylestone’s sights are firmly set on automatic promotion this time around, and justifiably so, but could it be that this fixture has come around at just the right time for the in-form Stutes?
The current form table shows that Aylestone Park have picked up 13 points from their last six games, which is an identical record to ours over the same period.  Our visitors have suffered just one league defeat on the road this season, but on Saturday they come up against a Stutes side that has yet to lose a home match, and last weekend recorded a third league win on the bounce.  With Aylestone Park’s game at Easington being called off last Saturday, could they be a little rusty  by 2.00pm Saturday?
This is a fixture that Chris Nunn’s Stutes side won 3-2 last season, but it would take a brave man to predict the outcome this time around with any confidence.
The visitors are likely to include prolific goalscorer Sam Hollis in their lineup.  His 20 goals in 22 appearances this season puts him among the best in the division. He will on Saturday come up against our own Captain Marvel who last weekend scored his 70th goal for the Stutes, mainly from a centre-back position. The dual between the two promises to be worth the admission price on its own.
Saturday is also the anniversary of our famous FA Cup victory over Leeds United in 2008. To mark the occasion, our matchday programme has a two-page feature on the game and will be available to purchase from the stall inside the turnstile for just £2.00.
Please don’t forget that the game kicks off at 2.00pm this week with the bar showing live Premier League football on TV from 12.30.  Hot food will also be available throughout the afternoon.  Admission is £10, concessions £6 and Under 17s £2.  Accompanied Under 12s are admitted free.
The club stall will be selling a variety of Christmas stocking fillers and there is still time to order replica shirts, training wear and casual gear, but don’t leave it too late for these items as some of them may need to be ordered from the supplier.
