This has been a year when friends have been more important than ever, and we have had to get used to living in bubbles. The “Histon Bubble” is full of friends, and I want to say a big thankyou to everyone who has worked so hard to prevent it from bursting during this unprecedented year. In every area of the Club, we have aimed to come out of Covid-19 stronger than we went in, and that’s all down to the ordinary people who make Histon FC work – Board members, managers and coaches, physios, administrators, welfare officers, players, groundsmen, volunteers, mums and dads, grannies and grandads. Our pitch and stadium are in better condition than they have been for years, and don’t forget the people who wash the kit, book the training grounds, edit the programme, apply for grants, clean the changing rooms, disinfect the toilets, run the bar, empty the bins – the list is endless.
Christmas 2020 may not be so merry as usual, but let’s all hope that merrier times lie ahead in 2021! Please help us to make this happen, by staying involved with Histon FC and encouraging others to join our friendly bubble. When you can safely come to football matches – First Team, Ladies, Under 18s, and our EJA youth squads – bring a friend. If you receive our newsletters, sign up a friend to get one too. If you don’t get our newsletters, sign up yourself. If you are in our fundraising SOS Club, enrol a friend – and if you are not, enrol yourself. If you need a new mask for the new year, order a Histon FC mask from our online shop. Every little helps, and if everyone in the “Histon Bubble” plays their part, we can hopefully all look forward to some happy and merry times in 2021. I look forward to seeing you all soon.
Best Wishes
Richard Barlow
