Aveley came back from 2 down to take the points on a costly afternoon for us at Parkside yesterday. Danny Gould gave us the lead after 22 minutes with a well placed shot from 12 yards before skipper Max York bundled home a second 5 minutes later. We then lost defender James Chivers after a clash of heads, the defender needing stitches and a trip to A&E.
Aveley got a goal back in the 5th minute of added time at the end of the first half through Harry Gibbs and we went into the break with a 2-1 lead.
The home side came out strongly in the second half and whilst we were temporarily playing with 10 men due to Lewis McDonnald being down injured, Aveley equalised through Reggie Hubbard. McDonald was then carried off for our second enforced change of the afternoon and just after the hour mark Hubbard got his second of the game to give the Millers the lead.
Dan Brown hit the post in the closing moments but we couldn’t find an equaliser.
