Cogenhoe United v HISTON

Kick Off 7:45pm

Histon are back on the road on Tuesday evening, as they make the journey west to Northamptonshire intent on extending their unbeaten run. They shall face a stiff test from their hosts who have hit a run of form themselves.

With The Stutes 4-0 away victory on Saturday, Lance Key’s side now lay claim to a 7 game unbeaten run, however they will face their host Cooks who in recent weeks have steered themselves clear of the danger zone. Their last outing on Saturday saw a convincing 8-2 win away at relegation threatened Long Buckby. Prior to Saturday they have also recently claimed all 3 points from Eynesbury Rovers and Coventry United, whilst the points were shared with both March Town United and Godmanchester Rovers. Scott Carlin’s sides only 2 defeats in the last 6 league outings have come at the hands of Lutterworth Town and league leaders Rugby Town.

We lock horns with The Cooks twice this week, in a rare and peculiar fixture list due to various postponements and re-arranged games. This shall be The Stutes first trip to Compton Park in league action, with the hosts having joined the United Counties League in 1985. In just their second season in the league they collected the runners-up spot in Division One. Since 1987 they have remained in the Premier Division. Our only previous meeting came in the FA Vase back in 2017, as the visiting Cooks progressed to the 3rd Qualifying Round with a 1-0 win at Bridge Road. That season they made it all the way to the 4th Round Proper, before being defeated by Wolverhampton Sporting Community 3-2 at Compton Park.

Scott Carlin and his side had an instant impact from the recent loan signing of Northampton Town youngster Tommy Curry. On his full debut at the weekend he collected the matchball thanks to a trio of strikes. He will again look to pose a threat alongside Jessi Obeng who netted a brace in Saturday’s 8-2 victory, taking his tally to 17 goals in 32 appearances this season. Behind him in the scoring charts is Pharrell Anderson who has scored 12 times in his 31 games.

As for The Stutes, Marcus Cole and Chris Gough should come back into the squad having been unavailable on Saturday, as Lance Key will hope to have a full complement of substitutes available to call upon. Top goalscorer Luke Lindsay is fit enough to take a place within the squad, although Luke Crisp and Pat Bexfield remain sidelined.
