We are delighted to announce the signing of 21-year-old goalkeeper George Whitehall who signed for the club this morning after starting the current season at Lakenheath.
Despite his young age, George already has plenty of experience of senior non-league football under his belt. He started his career as a Cambridge United scholar, during which time he had loan spells at St Neots Town and Godmanchester Rovers. After being release by the U’s, he had a trial period with Step 3 side AFC Sudbury, who were impressed enough to sign him for the start of the 2023/24 season. He then went on loan to Kempston Rovers before joining Lakenheath this summer.
On his new acquisition, Chris Nunn says, “George is a young ‘keeper who has big gloves to fill, but he has shown that he wants to come and prove himself and improve as a player. It will take time, but I am sure he will become a huge success at the club.”
The young stopper is eligible to go straight into the squad for Tuesday night’s United Counties League fixture at Bridge Road against Yaxley. All at Histon FC wish him every success at the club and look forward to seeing him fulfil his full potential of developing in the professional game.
