Histon Football Club is delighted to welcome Kevin Jacklin to Bridge Road, as manager of the club’s Ladies First Team. Jacklin joins, as it has recently been agreed to expand the Ladies section, and again run two sides. Matt Payne will assist Jacklin with the First Team, whilst the Reserve Team shall be led by Kevin Knock and Keith Carter.
It is anticipated that both sides shall operate within the Cambridgeshire Women’s and Girls League, the First Team in Division One, Reserves Division Two.
On his decision to join The Stutes, Jacklin had to say “I decided to join Histon as I felt I needed a new challenge after being with Cambridge City Ladies and Girls FC for over 20 years. I have a lot of experience in ladies and girls football, with a number of contacts built up over the years, and still feel I have something to offer. After speaking to Matt Payne, who I had known and worked with in my role as Cambs FA Ladies county manager, I could see straight away that Histon had ambitions to develop and progress their Ladies section. Combined with my experience and contacts, this seemed like a good fit, and with the excellent facilities and infrastructure around the club, if everything goes to plan, I expect Histon to have a Ladies team back in the Eastern Region League, hopefully by this time next season. The 3 year plan will be to try and get back into the Eastern Region Premier Division.
The Ladies teams are currently training at Comberton Village College 3G 7pm to 8-30pm every Tuesday evening, until the end of August. Details for training after the end of August are still to be confirmed. The new season will start on Sunday 11th September.
