Stephen Parker Memorial Match
HISTON vs Lowestoft Town
Kick Off 3pm
Our next installment of our pre-season schedule sees us host another Step 4 side, Lowestoft Town. We are pleased to be hosting this fixture at Bridge Road in memory of a dear friend of all at Histon Football Club, Stephen Parker who sadly passed away in 2020. Due to be in our company are many members of Stephen’s family who as ever we welcome with open arms. Stephen was part of the furniture here at Bridge Road, having for many years been the first enthusiastic face most were greeted by when selling raffle tickets, whilst he also acted as our matchday announcer. No task was to great for ‘Stevo’ who continues to be sorely missed!
Lance Key’s side come into this tie having narrowly lost out to AFC Rushden and Diamonds on Tuesday evening. Both sides had numerous chances, with the best opportunities for The Stutes coming through Connor Barnes and Dan Brown. Despite some heroics from Chris Gough, a late strike from Diamonds Ethan Johnston was enough for the visitors to claim the win.
Unfortunately, during Tuesday’s game both Ed Rolph and Bubba Camara suffered short term injuries which will see them miss this tie, with both Ollie Brookes and Sam Roach also due to be absent. This means that Ryan Towner will skipper the side once more.
We welcome The Trawlerboys who will again be operating in the Isthmian League, Division One North having finished in 3rd place last season. Jamie Godbold’s side missed out on promotion having lost 2-0 at their Crown Meadow home against Heybridge Swifts. Their pre-season schedule has seen Britain’s most Eastern side face neighbours Kirkley and Pakefield who they played out a 2-2 draw with, Lowestoft and District League side Waveney, whilst their most recent game on Tuesday saw Step 5 Downham Town as the opposition. Results are seemingly not available for these most recent games.
This seeks to be another strong test for The Stutes following Tuesday evening, with just one week to go until the United Counties League season opens.
Admission is set at £5 for Adults, £3 for concessions/students, 12-17 years costing just £1. 11 and under go FREE.
