HISTON V MARCH TOWN UNITED
United Counties League, Premier Division South
Monday August 29th
Kick Off @ 3.00pm
Match Sponsored by Campkins Cameras
League leaders March Town United are the visitors to Bridge Road, looking to continue their fine form that has seen them pick up maximum points from their opening four fixtures. ‘The Hares’ are also newcomers to the UCL, having been moved laterally from the Eastern Counties Premier League, having finished in 10th place in 2021/22.
Last time out, they edged past Step 6 side Huntingdon Town in FA Vase action, with Rob Conyard netting a late winner at Robingoodfellows Lane. The home side may feel fortunate to have avoided the lottery of a penalty shoot out, after Huntingdon had the ball in the back of the net to draw level, the ‘ghost goal’ not being awarded by the officials.
Leading the line for the visitors are Danny Emmington, Jack Friend, and Craig Gillies, who have all chipped in with 3 goals a piece. At the other end of the pitch, goalkeeper Jonah Gill has only conceded on 3 occasions in the 6 games The Hares have featured in.
Stutes manager Lance Key will be heading into the game with a few decisions to make following Friday evening’s convincing win against Debenham LC. Luke Lindsay’s impressive work from the bench may well earn him a start, after striker Rhys Thorpe was forced off the field in the second half. The striker shall be assessed pre-match to determine his fitness.
