Histon FC is pleased to announce the appointment of Alfie Oakman (pictured above with First Team Manager Lance Key) as our new Under 18s Manager.
Alfie is a UEFA B Licensed coach who has been involved in coaching/management for 9 seasons, both as the coach for Cambridge City U16’s in 2017 before going on to having four successful seasons at Newmarket Town FC from 2018 in the Eastern Junior Alliance. During this time Alfie took the group from U13 through to U16 and achieved league runners up and two top four finishes as well as a managing the side during the COVID-19 affecting season. This season also saw his side finish League Cup runners up as well reaching the Invitation Cup Final, which will be played in the very near future.
Alfie is excited to get started at Histon Football Club and had this to say about the appointment as U18 manager, “I am really pleased to be joining this great football club as U18 manager. The youth section of the club is really starting to grow again and it’s important I provide a clear supportive pathway for our Eastern Junior Alliance sides when they finish at U16 to progress in to the U18 set up. It’s my priority to have a strong relationship with the senior managers to ensure that these U18 players have regular exposure to senior football, whether that is with Lance in the first team or in our brand new reserve side in the Cambridgeshire County League. There have already been good conversations about the pathway and vision from youth to U18 and then in to the senior sides and I’m really looking forward to building a competitive squad each season as well as helping all the individuals progress in our football club.”
Alfie will be assisted with the U18’s by Stuart Berriman & Andrew Garner, both of whom he has worked with in previous years and developed a strong working relationship with.
