Daventry Town v HISTON

United Counties League Premier Division South
Saturday 14th October 2023, kick-off @ 3.00pm

Chris Nunn will take charge of the side for the first time tomorrow as we usher in a new era for the club under his management. After his appointment was confirmed earlier today we head to Daventry tomorrow looking forward after a difficult couple of weeks and the new man at the helm, with both Matt Payne and Craig Galbraith alongside him in the dugout, will have his first opportunity to take a look at the squad he has taken on.

Under the guidance of Matt Payne, Lee Keen and Craig Galbraith over the last couple of weeks the team have put in some improved performances and were somewhat unfortunate to not take anything from Tuesday night’s encounter with Wellingborough Town at Bridge Road. Coming from behind twice in that game we were perhaps the better side in the second half before two injury-time goals gave the Dough Boys all three points.

For tomorrow’s game the new manager will be without the experienced pair of Pat Bexfield and Rob Ruddy who both picked up injuries on Tuesday that could keep them out for a while. Bubba Camara will sit out the final game of his suspension whilst Harvey Bullinaria is not available either. Ed Rolph and Luke Crisp are getting ever closer to a return and could be involved as early as next weekend but tomorrow is too early for both. Jake Kerins and Jim Burnside, both announced as new signings earlier today, are both available though and in the squad.

Our hosts sit comfortably in the top half of the table although their form has been a bit mixed. Their impressive 5-1 demolition of Cogenhoe two weeks ago was followed up by a 1-2 reverse at the hands of Godmanchester Rovers last weekend and manager Daren Young will be expecting more consistency from his side in coming weeks. Experienced strikers Leon Lobjoit and Nabil Sharff have an impressive 25 goals between them already this year and will clearly pose a threat whilst Stutes supporters will recognise midfielder Joe Sutton from his time at Bridge Road.

Stadium Address: Elderstubbs, Browns Road, Daventry, NN11 4NS.

Driving time from Bridge Road approx 1 hour 25 minutes (70 miles).
