Saturday is your last chance this year to get behind the Stutes at Bridge Road as we take on Bugbrooke St Michaels for our final home league match of 2024. Last March, a Matt Hayden hattrick gave us a 3-1 victory over the Badgers, but since then we suffered a 2-1 defeat over at Bugbrooke in a game that was well contested by both sides, but we ultimately came away with nothing to show for our efforts.
Manager Chris Nunn will have the option of including both Matty Allen and Connor Barnes in his starting lineup for this game after Connor returned from a lengthy injury lay-off at Lutterworth last weekend. Joe Sutton and Ellis Leka also featured in that game, so Nunny will have plenty of decisions to make before naming his starting lineup.
The game will be Bugbrooke’s fourth visit to Bridge Road with each of their previous trips to our stadium ending in a win for the Stutes. The first was an FA Cup Preliminary Round tie back in 2001 which we won 3-1 thanks to goals from Jamie Barker, Shaun Harrington and Peter Munns. Twenty-two years on, we are delighted to welcome to Saturday’s game Neil Kennedy, our record goal-scorer from that period, who is bringing with him the Bottisham U14s girls’ team he is currently coaching. The girls will be our mascots for the game and we hope they have an enjoyable day with us.
If you are still looking for that last-minute Christmas present, the club shop has Histon FC scarves, hats, badges, our new style coffee mugs and more, all of which would make the ideal stocking-filler for the Histon fan in your life.
Kick-off on Saturday is at 2.00pm with the bar open from 12.30. Hot food will be available throughout the afternoon from the burger bar selling top quality product supplied by the Histon Chop Shop. Admission to the game is £10, concessions £6 and Under 17s £2. Accompanied Under 12s are admitted free.
On Boxing Day, we make our shortest away trip of the season to Godmanchester Rovers. We hope to see plenty of Histon fans still full of Christmas spirit at Bearscroft Lane for the 1.00pm kick-off.
Finally, please don’t let your children grow up thinking that football is a TV show. Bring them down to Bridge Road this Saturday to watch real live football from a seat in the stands and experience the thrills of live sport.
