On Saturday we head to the town of Lutterworth which is not only famous for being the birthplace of Sir Frank Whittle, inventor of the jet engine, but also for being the home of Lutterworth Town FC of the UCL Premier Division South.  The Swifts are a side we had not encountered prior to our move into the UCL but they now have a special place in our collective mind.  To date, we have yet to be beaten by them.

This will be our third visit to the Leicestershire town and our sixth meeting with the club in total.  Our record against the Swifts shows that we have won two of our previous encounters and drawn the other three, the latest being at Bridge Road in August of this year which finished 1-1.  On that occasion, Matty Allan put us a goal up in the 6th minute, but Brandon Williams equalised for the visitors in first half injury time.  The game was particularly memorable for the superb performance of Lutterworth goalkeeper Warren Butlin who kept his side in the game on several occasions.

The game on Saturday will be the first one in charge for Lutterworth’s new management partnership of Kev Burke and his assistant Brian Allton after their appointment last weekend.  They will be looking to build upon a solid home record of five wins, one draw and one defeat in seven home games this season.  Only two points currently separate the sides with Histon in ninth place and Lutterworth four places behind in thirteenth.

The Stutes squad for the game should be boosted by the return from injury of Connor Barnes and Ellis Leka in our 4-1 win against Over Sports on Tuesday night.  Both may now be looking for a place in the starting line-up.

The travelling time from Bridge Road is approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes with the route being on dual carriageway almost from door to door, but don’t forget that kick-off is at 2.00pm. The postcode for your SatNav is LE17 4NP.

As ever, your support for the Stutes on the road will be greatly appreciated.
