*** GAME OFF DUE TO A WATERLOGGED PITCH  ***

Following a pitch inspection, our game at Newport Pagnell Town has been postponed.

The next challenge for our First team comes this Saturday when we travel to the outskirts of Milton Keynes to take on Newport Pagnell Town.  The 46-mile journey to Willen Road has been a fruitful one on each of our previous two visits.  Last season, goals from Danny Gould, Ed Rolph and an og helped us to a 1-3 win in this fixture while Luke Lindsay was the scorer of the only goal in the game the previous year.  We also defeated the Swans at Bridge Road earlier this season, so Chris Nunn’s side can justifiably feel that this game offers a good opportunity to record a third successive away win.

But despite our recent fine form on the road, the visit to the home of the 2022 and 2023 FA Vase finalists will be far from easy.  Newport Pagnell replaced their manager in mid-October after a poor run of results left them in the bottom three of the UCL Premier South table.  They have since been revitalized under the new leadership of joint-managers Cam Agnew and Aaron Evans and have won five of their last seven league outings, including wins over Godmanchester Rovers and GNG Oadby Town in their last two fixtures.  Their biggest setback in this period was a 7-1 hammering at Aylestone Park.  With just one point separating 9th placed Histon and 11th placed Newport Pagnell, so there is plenty at stake when the two sides meet on Saturday.

Last weekend, Nunny gave a Histon debut to 17-year-old Will Ronald, who joined the Stutes a few days earlier on a loan agreement from League One side Northampton Town.  The highly rated right back is likely to retain his place in the squad for Saturday’s game.  There are no known withdrawals or additions to the squad since last weekend, so the manager will have some selection headaches to contend with before naming his lineup on Saturday afternoon.

Kick-off at Willen Road is at 3.00pm with the turnstiles opening at 2.00pm.  There is a bar available on site along with free car parking.  Admission is priced at £8 for adults, £6 for concessions and £2 for under 16s.  The post code for your SatNav is MK16 0DF.

Don’t forget that on Tuesday 10th December we entertain Over Sports at Bridge Road in the Cambridgeshire Invitation Cup.  Further details on this game will follow shortly.
