We are back on the road again this Saturday when we make the 134-mile round trip to face Rugby Borough on their all-weather pitch at the Nationwide Windows Arena. It should have been our second clash against the high-flying side on consecutive weekends but the match at Bridge Road last weekend was postponed due to a frozen pitch (now re-scheduled for Saturday 8th March).
We can expect a tough game as the Borough are one of three sides that have opened up a sizeable gap at the top of the UCL Premier Division South. The Warwickshire side are slugging it out with St Neots Town and Aylestone Park for the one automatic promotion place that goes to the league winners. The second and third placed clubs will have to compete in the end of season play-offs for the second promotion spot. Rugby are currently third in the race for top spot, four points behind leaders St Neots but having played two games fewer.
If Rugby have a weakness, it is their home form as they have shown a distinct tendency to drop points unexpectedly on their home ground against the less favoured sides in the division. They lost at home to Easington Sports (1-2), Newport Pagnell Town (0-1), Lutterworth Town (1-2) and Sileby Rangers (1-2), all of which are in the bottom half of the league table. It may therefore be to our disadvantage, at least on paper, that we are currently in the top half.
Chris Nunn will be looking to give Danny Setchell his second debut for the club after the former Corby Town midfielder rejoined us over the Christmas break. There may also be a return for Tom Binder and Matty Allan after both suffered knocks during December.
Kick off at the Nationwide Windows Arena is at 3.00pm and admission will cost you £7.00 for adults and £4.00 for concessions. Under 16s are admitted free of charge. A programme will set you back £3.00. The postcode for the venue is CV21 4PN and there is ample car parking on site.
A word of caution: Please drive carefully on Saturday as conditions on the roads are expected to be tricky and we want to see you at Bridge Road the following Saturday when Daventry Town are our visitors for a 3.00pm kick-off.
