Stutes to Visit Stowmarket Town in the FA Cup AND the FA Vase

The draw for the Extra Preliminary round of the Emirates FA Cup has presented us with a trip to Stowmarket Town of the Eastern Counties League Premier Division. And, after being given a bye in the FA Vase First Preliminary round, we will play at Stowmarket Town again on our entry into the competition, provided the Suffolk side beat Huntingdon Town in their First Preliminary round tie. The FA Cup game will take place at Greens Meadow on Saturday 3^rd August while the FA Vase tie against Stowmarket Town or Huntingdon Town is scheduled for 24^th August.

Should we be successful in the opening round in the Emirates FA Cup, we will face the winners of the tie between Cornard United and Fakenham Town, both of the ECL Premier Division, in the next round on 17^th August.

Stowmarket Town experienced a somewhat miserable season in 2023/24, finishing bottom of the Isthmian League North Division table with just 7 points and without winning a game. They return to the Eastern Counties League this season, where we last played them during the 2018/19 season.

The FA have put prize money of £1,125 on the table for the winners of our FA Cup clash with Stowmarket and a further £1,444 is on offer to the winners in the following round.

In the UCL’s Sports Ground Development League Knockout Cup, Histon is one of six clubs given a bye in the Preliminary round, meaning we will not feature in the competition until September at the earliest and against opposition yet to be decided.

In the FA Youth Cup, our Under 18’s have been drawn to play Rothwell Corinthians at Bridge Road in the week commencing 2^nd September.

The eagerly anticipated UCL league fixtures are still being finalized but it is understood they will be with us shortly.  Our first league match will be on Saturday 27th July, but before then we have a full schedule of pre-season friendly matches to enjoy, starting with a trip to Kempston Rovers (See separate News item).
