Histon Football Club is pleased to host a charity match on Sunday July 23rd (Kick Off 1pm) to benefit former Cambridge City star Gary Grogan. Veterans teams from two Cambridgeshire rivals will come together in order to raise funds for Grogan who recently fell seriously ill.
Grogan was recently rushed into Addenbrookes Hospital where he was immediately operated on due to an aneurysm in his leg that had caused a blood clot. Failure to operate could have led to the loss of the leg. Grogan also suffered a second aneurysm in his stomach which was also successfully operated on. Whilst his recovery has gone to plan thus far, Grogan is unlikely to be able to work for 12 months.
Proceeds from the afternoon will benefit the Grogan family, with a gofundme page open for donations from those who cannot attend www.gofundme.com/f/gary-grogan?utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link_all&utm_source=customer
The Stutes side will be managed by none other than Steve Fallon, who has confirmed a number of his playing squad: Neil Kennedy, Jamie Barker, Neil Andrews, Mat Mitchel-King, Ian Cambridge, Erkan Okay, Louie Farrington, Sean Harrington, Peter Munns, Paul Shadrack, Jon Ellis, Benny Murray and Gareth Jones.
Meanwhile, the Lilywhites team will be lead by current Manager, Robbie Nightingale, with Steve Gawthrop and James Saddington assisting, with a strong line-up also expected.
Both sponsors and auction items are being sought, with all interested parties asked to contact Peter Leete on 07976811820
